Lynn Garst, MEd
Mr. Garst is Associate Director of Child and Family Services at the Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD), which provides comprehensive community-based mental health services to Denver residents. Mr. Garst’s work has centered on improving both the understanding of and access to mental health and trauma-informed services for children and families within child welfare, juvenile justice, public schools, and community-based programs. He was the Project Director and Principal Investigator for a National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative grant providing services to gang-involved and at-risk youth and a SAMHSA HIV Targeted Capacity Expansion Grant focused on homeless youth with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders. As the Disaster Behavioral Health Coordinator for MHCD, Mr. Garst supervises a disaster response team that has responded to such recent events as the Aurora Theatre Shooting and the floods that ravaged much of Colorado. He currently serves as the co-chair for the NCTSN School Committee.
